szymon dorabialski

By formulating a poetic and imprecise language for the conversation between the personal and collective divine; Szymon’s practice exists as an observation of how human nature seeks to represent the infinite spirit within the confines of restricted earthly perception, how it attempts to explain the unexplainable through ritual, relic, dance and story.
Stemming from core interests in the aesthetic qualities of religion, science, metaphysics and psychedelics, his light and sculptural installations take everyday objects, tools and refuse and reconfigure them into symbols of worship.
This intuitive development of a body of work consisting of “poetic relics” and “Absurdist algorithms”, is an enquiry into the liberties and/or restrictions of creating a pliable personal understanding of the divine. In contrast with exclusively adhering to inherited cultural structures of the transcendental realm.
